So, what’s this NEW service called that Google just released?

It’s called “Google Sitemaps”.

The real cool thing about “Google Sitemaps” IS it accepts RSS(Real Simple Syndication) and Atom feeds with the .XML extension as one of the accepted formats for submitting your websites Sitemap for inclusion in Googles index.

This is just one of the four formats Google accepts and is the one that I’m going to use for the rest of this article to show you how to generate your own .XML sitemap of your website for inclusion in Google.

It’s real easy to do so don’t worry about it being to complicated.

So, with that said, lets go to Step #1.

Step #1. Sign up for “Google Sitemaps”.

This step is easy, simply follow the link provide below and sign up for a Free account. It should only take you a few minutes to do, then once your done, come back here and go to Step #2.

In this step your going to generate a .XML sitemap for your website using a Free online sitemap generator.

This Free online generator will build you a sitemap up to 500 pages. If you have a larger website with thousands of webpages you’ll have to use a paid service and/or software to generate yours.

This is very important that you do this before submitting it to Google Sitemaps for inclusion.

Step #4. Submit your NEW .XML sitemap to “Google Sitemaps”.

(ex. http://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml.gz)

That’s it.

Now, depending on Google, your sitemap should get downloaded within the next 24 hours, so be sure to check and see that it did and that there wasn’t any problems or errors.

Many ponder the question of how to get one way links pointing to their site, well one way to do this is by placing your links on web directories. In the technological world of websites, search engines and web directories have a long-standing relationship. Search engines look at directories and place a high value on them because they are human edited.

Did you know that a key factor in the ranking algorithm of search engines is link popularity? Spiders released by search engines will add your site to search engine indexes.

One link from a directory is counted as a back link and hence increases your link popularity. Before placing your link on a directory make sure the directory ranks well and is SEO friendly, which means that is optimized for each category this will increase the value of your posted link.

To start pulling in traffic a great strategy to use is to place links on web directories, this will build the one way links that you need. Posting links on web directories draws website users. Placing links on directories is a good strategy but if you are placing the links buy purchasing them it can become expensive.

Using reciprocal link exchange is a great strategy but should not be the only strategy you use, search engines give some weight to reciprocal link exchanges but one way links are looked upon as more important, try to have a diversified strategy when building you link campaign, don’t stick to one method.

Many webmasters feel they are able to receive traffic by listing their sites in web directories, so will even pay a fee to get their sites listed quickly and place the web directories link on their site to get listed.

There are many benefits associated with gaining free traffic from web directories. An economical way of building traffic is to place your links on free web directories. Basically web-hosting directories are of two types: paid WHDs and free WHDs.

You need to figure out if you should pay for a link on a web directory or not, a good rule of thumb is if the directory does not have higher than a 4 page rank don’t pay if the page rank is higher than a 4 then pay. The options are many and stem from two main categories: free directories and paid directories. Placing links on web directories is sometimes free and sometimes you need to pay for the links, usually the pay for directories are those directories that have a high page rank.

There are many free directories to submit your links to; one of the most important directories is dmoz.org. If you haven’t submitted your website(s) to this directory you must do so. Make sure you follow the guidelines when submitting to dmoz.org. The other free directories you can find by going to the search engines and doing a search under free link directories, once you have the list start submitting your site(s). Make sure you don’t reciprocate the link because this defeats the purpose of the one way link.

There are software programs that can help submit to these directories, the plus side to using the software is that they update them regularly with new directories and the list of directories is at your finger tips.

If you look closely you’ll notice that on almost every single blog out there you’ll see something known as Google Adsense, If your unfamiliar with them and don’t know how they work, its rather quiet simple, you take some code place it in your blog and from there Ads are displayed from thousands of publishers who use Google Adworks and when someone clicks on one of those ads you make money.

If I had to guess I would say that at least 70 to 80 percent of people who use Google Adsense have no real clue how to maximize their profit with them, most people just set up some ads and place them on their site and don’t do anything else, if you are one of these people then you are not making as much as you should be by doing this and I’m going to explain some ways of how you can improve your profit with them.

First I want to point out that every blog will generate different amounts of money by using Google Adsense, this is because the Ads come from people who are paying Google Adwords to display them and some people pay more then others, so a blog about the sky might not pay as much then a blog about technology because the technology sector is much more competitive then the sky and people will pay more to have their ads displayed.

So how do we get an idea of the amount of money we can generate using Adsense when we are not allowed to discuss it?. Well one of the simplest ways is to use the Google Adwords External Keyword Tool. Using this tool is extremely simple, lets say you’ve got a blog about cars and in the majority of your posts you use the word “Cars”, what you do is type “Cars” into the tool and press “Get More Keywords”, this will generate a list of several keywords that people are paying for, what you want to focus on is the green bar under “Advertiser Competition”, the higher the green bar, the more competitive that keyword is and the more money you’ll make if ads about that keyword are being displayed on your blog.

That sounds fairly straight forward doesn’t it? Now comes the question of targeting those keywords, most people think that there is no way to tellGoogle which Ads to display, this is a common myth surrounding Adsense, now you cannot exactly tell Google to display car ads on a biology blog, that simply will not happen, but lets say your using the word “Cars” in the majority of the posts you make and from what we can tell from theAdwords Tool the keyword “Cars” is very competitive and it should pay quiet well.

What you can do is place these two bits of code around the text that you want Google to target, the first one looks like this and the last one looks like this what these two tags will tell Google is that instead of taking every keyword on your blog, it will only take the keywords in the text between these two tags. This will refine how wellGoogle displays ads on your site.

If your using Blogger or some other sort of blogging program the easiest way would be to wrap these two tags around the tag in your template, from there Google will only display ads based upon which keywords each of your posts have. Google will generally display ads based upon how much your keyword density is, so if your using the keyword “Cars” in the majority of your posts, you’ll get more relevant ads about Cars and we know that this keyword should pay quiet well and you’ll be making more money from it.

Now I want to cover one more tag that you can use with Google Adsense if you don’t want to use the two tags I just talked about, they have another tag which looks like this and when you wrap these tags around certain parts of your blog, Google will simply ignore all the keywords in those sections, as you can tell by doing this you get much more control over the type of ads that are being displayed and once you use these systems together you can start to maximize your potential profit with Google Adsense.

These few examples will help you increase the amount of money you get when someone clicks on your ads and it will allow Google to target the content on your site much better, by having more relevant ads on your site you should see your click through rate begin to go up.

The last thing you should be aware of is the colors of your ads, the size of your ads, and the frequency of the ads showing up on any given page. The first thing you want to do is make your ads blend in with the rest of the content, you don’t want to make people think all your after is a bunch of clicks, you want them to flow very nicely with the rest of your content, so if the majority of the links on your site are blue then make your Adsense links blue and if your text is black make the Adsense text black and so on.

The size of your ads also influences the amount of clicks your going to get, if you blatantly place huge ads all over your site people will start to trust you less and when you loose a readers trust you loose that much more clicks, its better to provide your users with quality content and ads that don’t say “HEY CLICK HERE”. Have a look at this particular blog and see how I’ve got my Adsense blocks laid out, as you’ll see they blend in quiet well, they obviously could blend in a little bit better because they do pop out a bit but they don’t scream at the user, this mixed with good quality content makes the stand out more acceptable.

The very last thing is the frequency of the ads being displayed on your blog, Google only allows you to display 3 ad blocks on any one page, so if you try to place twelve ad blocks only three will show ads and the rest won’t even be noticeable, as well you have to remember that the more ads being shown on your site takes away from the amount of money you’ll get per click, I’m unsure of exactly how this all works with Google but simply put the more ads means less money.

Now I’m not telling you to only display one ad on your entire blog to gain maximum profit, you could but you won’t be reaching maximum profit, simply because the less ads you have displayed means the less people will click on them and the less money you’ll make. The best way to deal with this is to test different ad placement on your site to see which area’s gain you the most amount of clicks while maintaining the least amount of ads, you can monitor your results in Google Adsense.

Just keep an eye on your CTR (Click Through Rate) and remember how many ads are being displayed on any particular page, you’ll eventually find exactly how many ads you should be displaying and which area’s those ads should appear. If you employ all of these techniques there is no reason why your Adsense profit should not go up.

So what are you waiting for, take the 10 minutes and change things around to start earning some more money with your Adsense ads and if you found this information useful please support it by clicking the Digg button below, plus if you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them and I’ll do my best to answer. Thanks & Enjoy.

How To Build Backlinks To Your Blog

While no one knows exactly what the formula for search engine rankings is, we do know that it has a lot to do with how many “votes” you have out there on the web. These votes are counted as backlinks. If you think about it, what do you when you find something you really like and want to share with others? You link to it! AND that’s why the search engines count these so highly. While you should definitely aim to get to the point where others will link to you, it’s possible to take things into your own hands for now.

Below are some of the top strategies you can use for building backlinks to increase the value of your blog in the eyes of the search engine. By the way there is GREAT money involved! You probably hear this all the time, but do something different in life and actually take advice! It’s a recession we know you could do with that extra lump of cash!

Write Articles and Submit Them

Writing and submitting articles is a great way to build backlinks! There are sites out there like EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com that allow you to post your content with a link back to your site. That means you get to have your link on authority sites! The more articles you write, the more you can submit them. The beauty of this is that you can often submit the same articles to different sites, or rewrite them quickly to have something that is more unique.

Comment on Other People’s Blogs – Its SO EASY.

It’s a great thing to remember that a huge part of blogging is getting involved in the community. Commenting on other people’s blogs will not only get you some recognition from their readers right away, it also counts as a backlink! Keep in might that some of these links are termed as “no follow”, which means the search engines may not pass along ranking or “juice.” That’s okay, because the algorithms are always changing, and since these links are so highly targeted they are a great thing.

Write Guest Posts

Writing guest posts for other niche blogs is an amazing strategy. People love to let you do this because it gives them a day off from blogging. Readers love it because they get a fresh perspective on a topic they are interested in. You’ll love it because it means you get a link back to your site and all you had to do was write an extra post for the day.

Use Social Bookmarking Sites

Another thing you can do is bookmark your sites. Now, there are some rumblings out there that these won’t count as highly in the future as they do now. Still, bookmarking your sites lets the search engines know “you are there” for fast indexing. If you take the time to make sure the sites you bookmark with are high quality, you’ll get the benefit of those links as well.

Paying for Links

There are many different ways you can pay for links. It is important to know that Google and other search engines frown on this because it’s like you’re gaming their website. Whether you choose to do this or not is up to you, but it can be an effective strategy if you don’t go overboard and aren’t obvious. You can contact people directly or even work through link exchange networks.

Learning how to build backlinks to your blog is extremely important if you want to rank well. Add a few links at a time and they will build up in a massive way over the long run.

The top news of the day reaches millions of people daily via the Internet. You can catch up with the geo-political and environmental issues, as well as the latest Lebanese news sprinkled with interesting blogs and videos chronicling the lighter side of life about the people, culture, and events in Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Greece, Israel and more.

The Advantage of Getting News Online

Reading the morning’s newspaper over a cup of coffee is a time-honored ritual. But the Internet has changed all that. The newspaper is contested by online news that include riveting videos and virtual tours. The “close encounter” experience heightens your satisfaction of reading Lebanese news and international summits for global concerns. On top of all this, you are alerted to breaking headlines minute by minute.

Online sites provide access to the different headlines from several top Middle East newspapers churning out the day’s events from all over the globe. You can also have your choice of different Middle East newspapers and your daily dose of: World News, Lebanese News, Middle East News, Our Planet, and World Sports.

The different broadsheets – Nahamet News, Daily Star-News Briefs, Ya Liban News, Daily Star Local, and Google News Lebanon provide more than news. You can gloss over the editorials, interviews, technology, business, health, culture, classifieds, and entertainment. These always give the latest and most intriguing pieces on World News.

Unlike the newspaper that’s tossed to your proverbial lawn, your online news won’t be chewed up by the dog. Rain or sun and day or night, you have your news in your computer. A good Internet connection provides non-stop news feeds.

Getting the Best from Online News

The online sites are easy to navigate. The items are categorized according to blogs, newspapers, politics, business, Lebanese sports, and videos. All but the video and blog sections have drop-down menus to provide you a selection of newspapers. In the blogs section, the drop-down menu lists the bloggers of the different newspapers. For videos, you will be immediately directed to Yahoo! Videos.

If you are into Middle East news and want to say your piece about the events, you can post your comments about the press releases. The available chat feature and discussion forum instantly connects you to other Lebanese news aficionados.

If you’re looking to expand your business, or eyeing an opportunity in the import and export business, or simply looking for financially rewarding breaks, you can always go over the classifieds.

Thinking about someplace that offers a new experience? The Middle East should top your list. Hunt for the best place to stay by region, restaurants to dine in, and stores to scour for interesting trinkets, rugs, jewelry, and excellent wines in the newspapers’ directories. The transport and travel guide with a list of interesting places can help you map out your visit to the Middle East, where a fascinating mix of the cosmopolitan and eastern mystic continue to enthrall tourists.

Reading up on Lebanese news provides you another window to look at the picture of the Middle East. It is not all about political issues; it is also about learning how the other half survives in a time of turmoil, prosperity, and recovery. For the country’s expats, keeping up with the news is the best way to keep in touch with the homeland.

Traffic is the life and blood of every internet website. Creating a website is only the beginning. You can get instant templates at www.templates-source.com to get started, but what do you do when you have completed the website. Search engines are fine, but it is a painstakingly tedious process to submit to the search engines. Therefore, you want to find a faster way to get traffic and the answer is google.

Google has paid advertising like adsense or adwords, but there are a few other ways to utilize google to add traffic to your website and these methods are free.

Google news is one of the ways that you can benefit from free google traffic. If you go to http://news.google.com and recommend your website as a newsworthy website and it may be approved by google, but you must keep it updated every 30 days. Another way is submit a press release to www.prweb.com and your site will get listed in google because all press releases from www.prweb.com are listed in google.

http://images.google.com is another free method to use google. If you have existing pictures on your website you can optimize them for google image search. Google describes each image with text and list the source website that carries each image. The key is to use relevant text to describe your images. For example, if you have a cat page and a picture of a cat, you could label it, “free cat pictures” and google will grab this description and your web address and add it to google image.

Having google sitemaps set up will let google know about all your web pages from you site and get them fully indexed. It will also help you to know what is happening with your website as it pertains to google sitemap at http://sitemap.google.com. You will need a google account to set up this feature. You will get detailed reports about the visibility of your website and all your pages. Once you verify that you are the site owner, google will provide statistics, analysis and reports about your site. You will verify your main page by adding meta tags that google will provide after you register. This will help you to stay connected to google site map.

Google base is where you can submit content and have it show up on google. If you go to http://base.google.com you can add all types of content with specific keywords and this will generate lots of free traffic for you. Make sure you pick the right keyword and include it in your title, so people who see the title will click on it to go to your content. You can also add pictures to draw attention to your content. You are also allowed to add your web URL to lead traffic to you. You can also add keywords in your description and in your content.

You can also add google book search to your arsenal of free traffic at http://books.google.com. Even though google carries the entire book, you are also allowed to submit pages of your books or ebooks. Make sure your book has your niche keywords that will get your targeted audience to purchase the entire book. Your book will contain your website address. You can get private label content or your own written content to create an electronic book and submit it to google books. You will need an ISBN number to get the book listed with google books. You can also list the book at http://froogle.google.com as well.

There are a few more tips to getting free google traffic and you can get more information at http://www.freegooglehit.com. This article is written by Cheryline Lawson, Internet Marketer.

Getting indexed in Google and making our websites available to the world via the top search engine remains one of the biggest challenges for webmasters, myself included! It takes more than just submitting your URL to Google’s directory, so I have taken it upon myself to find out a few things about how Google works, what services it has available, and how to get in, and stay in!

To get your site listed in Google, you will have to submit your URL to their directory, but it will take quite a while for them to get to your site and have it listed and reviewed for a page rank. In the meantime, there a few things you can do that will help get your site noticed. Google has something called “Google Base” which allows you to describe your products or services on your site that Google will make searchable. Because you are using words directly related to your site, this feature can bring you targeted visitors, and may be included in the Google search index and other places around Google. “Google Local” is another feature of Google that will allow you to enter the same type of description of your products and services on your site, but to an even more targeted audience – those people searching for specific products and services in a specific local area. If you are looking for ways to advertise without spending a fortune, this is one way to do it!

As we all know, blogging is becoming one of the most effective ways to advertise online. Google offers something called “Google Blog Search” where you can list and post your blogs for additional traffic to your site, and you can post multiple blogs, a specific blog, or even an entire blog. Since content is what attracts the search engines, both by blogging and submitting articles, Google also has a feature called “Google News” where you can submit articles, along with your picture which will get featured by the top search engine. All it takes is visiting the American Chronicle website, submitting an article, signing up to be a contributor, and submitting your articles that will be syndicated on Google News to the millions of readers every day! You can even submit a press release to Google News via PRLeap, and if you really want to get fancy, you can create and index a video or infomercial for your site that is indexed by Google with “Google Video”. You may want to take advantage of this feature as audio and video feeds are becoming a more and more popular and effective means of reaching customers online.

This all sounds great, and you can be going along thinking everything is fine and dandy, but then suddenly you discover that your site has been banned by Google and you aren’t sure why. One thing that can get you banned from Google, meaning your site cannot be found when searched, is trying to put hidden keywords on your page to get a higher ranking – words that your visitors cannot see, but that the search engines can see. People will cram these words onto their sites in various ways both on the page itself or in the meta tags, or repeat keywords they think will give them a higher page rank but will only get your site banned.

Something else that is bad for your Google Page Rank is linking to a link farm, or a directory of links from everywhere with no real categorization to it, or linking to another banned website. Sometimes you will be linked to a site with good PR, without realizing that that site has actually got hidden or repeat keywords that later get that site blacklisted. Unfortunately you have no way of knowing this is happening to you and thereby decreasing your own page rank unless you check your link partners on occasion to make sure that the sites you are linking to have not been blacklisted by Google. You do want to exchange links and get one-way links pointing back to your site from sites with a higher PR than your own and which are not banned sites.

As you can see, there are many ways to use Google that people are not aware of, if they just visit the Google site and find out what features it has that they can use to their benefit and for free. As long as you stick to the rules in putting your site together, and link to high PR sites, you should be on your way!

A very important element in the rapid adoption of AdSense is that it has been very easy for publishers to get the ads on their site as quickly as possible.

Integrating AdSense in your website takes only a few minutes, and you can be on your way with one or more nicely integrated AdSense ads.

The first thing you need to do is navigate to http://www.google.com/adsense and either apply or log in with your existing account and password. What follows is a page presenting the Google AdSense Terms and Conditions which you must agree to in order to proceed.

You are presented with a report page which you can use to get a detailed status on how your AdSense advertising is doing. This allows you to improve your site’s contents and layout to maximize your AdSense earnings.

On the top of your page you also have link to the setup section where you can generate the code that will need to be pasted on your website in order to have AdSense banners on your page.

You can use AdSense for text (the said ads), using a search box or with referrals. Your choice among these options depends on how users will navigate your site.

Finally, there is a “My Account” tab which allows you to set up details concerning your account, payment and tax information.

To add a text ad on your site, go back to the “AdSense Setup” tab and click the “AdSense for content” link. Make sure you have cookies enabled in your browser.

You can make a choice between ad units and link units. The former contain text and or images concerning a certain site for each unit, most with a detailed description, the latter only contain links to certain types.

Of course, it’s a bit hard to know which type you should use so you should probably experiment with both for a while before you decide.

You can also view an example of how the unit will look to the right of your page. However, you may only use three ad units and one link unit on any given page. This is believed to be a step which Google takes for quality control.

The next step is to choose your add format and colors. You can basically select any color palette you choose with Google offering some of its own if you don’t have the time or skill to create one. You can constantly view how the palette will look through the aid of an example. The one that works best in terms of appearance and revenues will vary with the look, feel and content of a website.

However, your ad formats are limited to a choice of eleven formats. There’s an “Ad Formats” link which takes you to a page that lets you see all even of these in action so you can decide best which one suits your site. Sometimes the most intrusive, doesn’t work best however again, this can vary from website to website.

After you finish with customization, you can click “Continue” from the bottom of the page.

You are now presented with a section entitled “AdSense for Content”. You can click anywhere in the text and that shows the JavaScript required to get AdSense running. This will automatically select the text in the box.

You can then copy it and paste it into your pages directly. If you use dynamic pages, you should paste this code within your template so as to ensure that it gets displayed on any page of your website. Some advertisers choose not to display Adsense on every page, and this is understandable. An example of this is a company that has adsense, may also have terms and condition which would inevitably provide legal resources which would probably be deemed inappropriate.

What is then left for you to do is get content on your page (provided you didn’t have any already). Google AdSense crawlers will soon visit your site, making sure that the ads displayed are relevant to your site’s content.

And you’re all done. For a simple page this should indeed be a matter of a few minutes, which is precisely what makes AdSense the choice for so many. Although it is quick, its mass appeal also makes it the best. Through being the most popular, advertisers and publishers alike see Adsense and Adwords as their natural first choice.

The Google News team made an interesting post titled â??Psstâ?¦ secrets of Google News exposed!â? at official Google blog. The post explained about various Myths and facts related with Google news. Posted by Andy Golding, Software Engineer at Google, Andy also shared about how Google include and publish (rank) articles in Google news.

Coming directly to Myths and facts explained.

1. Updating article once itâ??s included in Google news helps in higher rankings.

False, According to Google the current Google news crawler doesnâ??t revisit the articles. Every article/news in crawled only once so changing or updating the article will not help at all in fact any changes you make will not be shown at Google news website. I hope Google news crawler will soon have the functionality of revisiting the WebPages.

2. Placing image next to article improves the rankings.

False, Google do include images in news results and displays them next to your news item, but it cannot read the images and rankings purely depends upon text accompanied in your news item and not on having images in the news.

3. Articles with images and video are not included.

True, Google crawler cannot read flash, videos, images and other such type of multimedia content. Thus itâ??s a fact that if you new release or article doesnâ??t contain any text accompanying images or multimedia content then it will not be included at all in news results.

4. Time is a major factor for inclusion.

False, Google crawlers are frequently looking for content related to current event and top stories. There are lots of factors that Google algorithms take into consideration and choose the best articles from the cluster for ranking. Publishing articles prior, after or in midst of any event donâ??t improve any chances of rankings at all.

5. Articles with Google adsense ads rank high in Google news.

False, well this is the most disputed topic among webmasters not only for Google news ranking but also for Google organic results also. Google had always denied this fact and according to goolge spokesman, â??Using AdSense doesnâ??t have any impact upon our ability to crawl or rank your articles. We try to stay as objective as possible, and giving sites with our ads product a boost, well, that wouldnâ??t be very objective!â?

6. Creating sitemap helps.

True, sitemaps may not help in achieving top rankings but they do definitely help in other way like meta data for our article, specifying category the news would be appear, specifying which articles should appear in google news etc.

7. Redesign or change in site structure may affect my coverage in news rankings.

True, any drastic change in website design or structure, layout etc may cause problems with crawling of your article and hence overall coverage over google new may be affected.
